Before social media, single people didn’t “find” each other — they were introduced.
By friends. By family. By people in their community.
What if it worked that way again?
The social infrastructure that once organically brought people together has all but disappeared. Dating apps are now the default starting point for a relationship. But the high-effort, low-reward reality of finding someone online is wearing on people.
By Introduction exists to rebuild what’s been lost. We’ve created a new, old fashioned way for Christian singles in the Triangle to meet someone who is known, trusted, and value-aligned.
It begins the way it used to: with an introduction.
Get started.
The best connections don’t come from algorithms — they begin with the people who know you.

Stuck in a cycle of (bad) one-on-one first dates? Join a low-pressure group mixer of like-minded singles, instead.
What are you waiting for?
Just provide us with an introduction, and we’ll handle the rest.
Our mixers are invitation-only, ticketed, small group gatherings designed to include:
- semi-private or private spaces across the Triangle
- a thoughtfully balanced group of men and women from our Triangle network
- a relaxed, low-pressure environment
- a mix of unstructured mingle time and structured, host-led programming
- a no-phones policy
- alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase
- personal follow-up, with one-on-one connections facilitated by our CCO after each event
Our gatherings are exclusively designed for single men and women who are:
- in their 30s or 40s
- seeking a committed relationship
- Christian
- living in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and surrounding suburbs)
By Introduction was created to meet a need online dating platforms and mainstream events can’t. The need for human-centered connection, facilitated by community.
Most apps and in-person events (think speed dating, pitch nights, etc.) offer quantity over quality. We offer the opposite: an unapologetically niche opportunity to meet someone.
But, we know… a matchmaking service exclusively for Christian singles? It doesn’t exactly scream this is going to be a great time. (There’s a reason you might not be on Christian Mingle.) And on most apps, “Christian” in a bio can mean anything from “I go to church on Christmas and Easter” to “this is about to get intense.” We’re aware of the branding challenge, but this is what allows us to do what dating apps and traditional events can’t. We curate rooms of people who are at least directionally aligned on the big stuff. Not identical. Not trying to debate theology over drinks. Just compatible in the ways that usually make or break a relationship.
Our model is built on trusted introductions, a very specific (yes, intentionally narrow) audience, low-pressure group mixers, and a hyper-local community here in the Triangle.
We’re taking the risk of sounding slightly uncool and a little “too Christian” upfront in order to create something truly unique.
If you’re on the fence, hear us out: come once and see who’s in the room. Worst case, it’s not for you. Best case, you’re pleasantly surprised.
Submit an introduction
Someone you trust introduces you — or you introduce yourself through our online form. We’ll ask for a reference and which area church you’re affiliated with. Together, your reference and church context give us confidence you’re known and trusted before we even enter the picture.
We get to know you
We review the information you provide to ensure you meet the criteria for participation and fit within our target audience. That may include a little online research (naturally), connecting with your reference(s), and following up with a few additional questions.
Attend a group mixer
When there’s alignment, you’re added to our network and invited to a small, curated mixer with other Christian singles from our Triangle network. Ticket prices typically range from $45 to $65 depending on the venue and format. No phones, no pressure (see more at “What to Expect at a Mixer”) — just get to know as many people as possible and enjoy an evening out.
After the mixer
We share a private recap of attendees, including headshots and brief bios. You can revisit who you met and express interest in someone. When it’s mutual, we share contact information — what happens next is up to you. If you hit it off with someone, our work is done. If not, we’ll keep the invitations coming.

We were two tacos and a margarita in when my friend started sharing the stress and burnout she was experiencing on her dating apps — and finding someone in general. Two weeks earlier, exploring alternative options, a professional matchmaking service quoted her $30,000 for a (unimpressive) 6-month contract. Also stressful.
I quickly found myself asking how I could help. I couldn’t realistically start swiping on Hinge for her. Likewise, I was appalled at the idea of her — or anyone for that matter — being asked to pay five figures in response to such a vulnerable request. But what could I offer instead?
A week later, I was pitching the idea behind By Introduction to anyone who would listen. Today, my hope is that By Introduction falls somewhere in between traditional matchmaking and the endless scroll of online dating. At minimum, it’s more affordable than the former and more personal than the latter. At best, it reimagines how Christian singles in the Triangle meet — cultivating meaningful space for the kind of connection my friend and others like her are struggling to find.
We appreciate your introduction! Before submitting, please ensure the person you’re introducing meets the criteria outlined under “Who This is For” on our website. Once your submission is received, we’ll contact them directly to continue the process.
Thanks for reaching out. We will answer your questions or respond to your comments as soon as we can.
